Music Workshops

Music workshops for tango DJs and music lovers

Regularly I give lectures on tango music addressing both tango DJs as well as tango dancers and music lovers. The workshops can be given in English, French or German language on any subject concerning tango music. You can get an idea on some of the possible in-depth subjects by browsing through my blog articles.

I use my data projector to show unique visual didactical material and a record player to listen through original analog sound recordings from my personal collection. This gives the audience an opportunity to discover authentic source material. Most of the time, I suggest to articulate the lecture around the column orchestras:

English summary: “Let’s examine rhythms, feelings and characteristics of the key orchestras while listening to musical excerpts. An orchestra can be typical and representative of a genre (D’Arienzo, Di Sarli, Pugliese, Troilo) but it can also propose a lot of variations fare beyond stereotypes and too strict definitions. From these examples, we will discover how to construct and articulate a milonga. This understanding will allow you to associate a more subtle and varying choice and better address the spirit of the music both as a dancer and DJ. The workshop will be concluded with a short technical presentation and a Q&A session.”
